Shall our hearts forget his promise
So, briefly, for I am tired:
St Gabriel's was a happy place this morning. Fr. Cal came up while we were waiting for things to begin and was very jolly at us, telling us to remember how to behave in church! We got to meet a few people we hadn't seen in a while. Sally preached, on motherhood (predictably, since today is Mother's Day in the US), but she managed to tie it in with the lectionary readings about Jesus being the true vine, and that beautiful part in John's first letter about how we love because God first loved us. She said about how there are lots of kinds of mothers and that you shouldn't just expect that a biological mother should necessarily be a person's mothering person, but that people find mothers everywhere (I was reminded irresistably of Romans 16:13, but she didn't mention the link explicitly).
The youth group were washing cars to raise money for something (I didn't quite follow what). There were flowers in pots (to give to your mothers) and fruit salad (because everyone likes fruit salad). In other church gossip, Donna Jean is going to be made a deacon.
Oh, and some kind musical person chose something set to Hyfrydol as the closing hymn. This was MUCH APPRECIATED.
We were going to do something fun with Plexq and 5eh, but they're both sick, sadly.
I came home and was granted a gmail account, which I investigated (it's okay, but I think I'll stick with Pobox) and hence discovered Google Calendar (which is all kinds of awesome). Maybe I'll use it at work.
Also, I read a lot about rosaries today.
