It's your cousin, Marvin... Marvin Berry.
Firstly, the new medication is going very well, and my mind is much clearer. I'm not sure whether that's coming off the old stuff or the good effects of the new, though. And I've been learning lots of interesting stuff about C++ and other things recently-- it's been fun. But it's tiresomely humid and it rained with great ferocity while I was waiting for Sharon to pick me up, like walking out into a warm shower; I would have gone out and danced in it if I hadn't been carrying a laptop. I'm not sure why other people leaving the building squealed and put papers over their heads: maybe they don't like taking showers, or maybe they've just never walked into a shower with all their clothes on.
Riordon wanted to know about the concept of tort and the civil/criminal law distinction in common-law jurisdictions tonight, and that got on to talking about what actions could be tortious. ("But suppose you wrote a book and I read it, but I didn't copy it, but then I went to help my friend with his schoolwork and I accidentally wrote part of your book into it... would that be enough to sue?") We are rapidly approaching the edges of my knowledge of the legal system; they never tell you you'll need to know all this in the parenting books. Eventually, after we'd talked for ten minutes or so, I told her she had to get some sleep and she was all "But Daddy! We haven't finished talking!"
Dinner tonight was sausages and pilaf rice. Fin cooked. It was good. I am noticing more and more how much I often take others for granted-- not so much in general, though I'm sure I do, but particularly in that when I'm incapable of doing everything I need to, either because of illness or overcommitment, I'll sometimes ask (or even expect) others to pick up the slack and then leave them holding it when things are better again. Now I know the pattern exists I need to make sure I can kill it off.
Some links: because other people liked it in the flocked post, here's a link to the fake Harry Potter covers-- no spoilers, very NSFW, very funny; gender stereotyping and toys; the people who consider the inventor of Esperanto to be a deity; hurrah for rugby.
I have discovered that the reason FUSA is getting so many bug reports from Fedora 7 users is not because it's strangely broken on that distro but simply because it now ships as default, so it's getting a huge amount more use. This is an encouragement. I really need to install Fedora, I suppose, but I'd need to repartition. Hmm; I'll think.
Speaking of distro-specific options, Fin posted a small rant: why is gnome-terminal considered an accessory these days anyway?
