In which we see again that Sophie Wilson is an inspired genius

We went to St Gabriel's this morning, but we were unexpectedly late. There are two buildings, you see, an older one that looks like a little eighteenth-century Lutheran chapel in the middle of nowhere, which is what it originally was, and a larger nineteenth-century building next door to it which the congregation built when they outgrew the 1801 chapel. I think that in the summer they swap buildings with the church which uses the other building in the winter.
It's Trinity Sunday, and Fr Cal preached an excellent sermon on the Trinity. (I mention this particularly because I'm fed up of hearing preachers say, "Well, it's Trinity Sunday, but the Trinity is a very difficult topic, so instead I'm going to talk about something completely different.") He talked about the love between the persons of God being like the love between members of a family, and used one of our couples with children who carry their baby everywhere in a sling as an example: he said it was a bit like they were the Father and the Son and they held the sling between them and that was a bit like the Holy Spirit, except a sling isn't a person, and you could imagine you were the baby in the sling. That sounds a lot less together now than when he preached it, actually, sorry.
We went to Sharon's house, and broke sticks and put them in bags for her. There were two alsatians (I hear that Americans call them "German shepherd dogs" or something) in the next-door garden who were very friendly and kept jumping up and licking my face.
Later we came home and I showed Riordon gbeeb. She was really taken with it, and has started coding already. Here is her first program.
5 CLS
10 P."RIORDON LOVES HER MUMMY AND DADDY"
20 P."LOVEY LOVEY GOOEY"
No, no idea what line 20 is supposed to mean. Tomorrow, we start variables. I must really try and get the scrolling on gbeeb fixed, because other than that it's a very useful teaching tool.
Fin was trying to cut the grass, and John from next door offered to do it with a power mower. So I gave him some beer as a "thank you" present, and he and his partner Robin invited us over and we sat around and drank (their) beer and talked for about three hours. We'd never really talked to them before, so that was happy.
I pulled up poison ivy with my bare hands yesterday, and it caused mild tingling like very minor sunstroke. Today there's no sign of it.
