In which I was a driven person
Today was my mother-in-law Sharon's first day at her new job, so her mother
drove us all the way into Philly. I sat in the back of the car and hacked on a
fix to
bug 96229.
It was a pleasant change not to have to rely on SEPTA, and I arrived at work so
early I couldn't even open the door.
In the evening I collected Sharon from work and we walked back to
Suburban Station. It
was only a few blocks and I tried to walk slowly, but Sharon's not used to
having to walk and it tired her out.
On the way home I finished my fix. In the new metacity themes branch, you can
add six different buttons to a window:

From left to right, they are:
1) Pin on all workspaces
2) Always on top
3) Roll up
4) Minimise
5) Maximise
6) Close
As you might be able to see, I've recently become rather addicted to
Tomboy, a Gnome-ish
note-taking program, or personal wiki, or whatever you might call it. I have
dozens of little notes all searchable already; it's becoming a really useful
place to keep my lab notes.
Today, I also discovered a Gnome LJ client called
Drivel, and I'll have to try very
hard not to stop hacking Metacity and start adding patches to that, because it's
really rather lovely. It could use Beagle integration, I think. And it would be
good if it could permanently live in the systray rather than just popping up
when your friends posted. A great piece of work, generally.
It was pizza Monday when I got home. After that, Fin and I snuggled for a while,
and then zie went shopping and I played "farmer, farmer, may we cross your
field?" in the darkening park with Rio. Do any of you know that game, gentle
readers?
