"In quires and places where they sing"

I'm getting the idea that metacity-theme-2 is all but done. The last thing I'm considering putting in is the "background" property, but I can't get the supplied patch to run (and I don't understand it well enough to be able to figure out why). If I can't get it working within a couple of days I might just say, hey, that's for metacity-theme-3.

a) Your thoughts pro or con leaving this out are welcomed.

b) Also, if you know why I can't get the patch working, comment on the bug.

c) If there's anything else that needs to go in metacity-theme-2, let me know. Raise a bug if necessary.

When that's all done, I'll get on with merging the branch back into the trunk, and if it's within a few weeks of today I'll make a release. I've also started to write a tutorial on making Metacity themes, which will hopefully go into the doc directory for metacity-theme-2, and might make an article for Gnome Journal.

I didn't fall asleep until late last night, then slept badly, and hence felt pretty crap the whole of today. Work was not awfully constructive, except that I fixed a bug I had introduced myself during a big refactoring last week.

The Priest Who Hugs Everyone During The Peace took the service at St Mark's. (We were all sitting in the choir stalls instead of the Lady Chapel this time, for the first time. It was good to be sitting facing one another like at a college again.) He preached on the part in the Sermon on the Mount about forgiving your enemies, and told us about the time he was mugged and robbed and beaten and came round lying in a vacant lot on the other side of Philadelphia, and how long it took before he could forgive his attackers. It reminded me of the story of Julie Nicholson. I wonder what happened to her. (update)

We spent the evening chatting to the neighbours in their garden and playing with their dog. Fin showed them a lot of zir artwork.

My insurance has been sorted out now, though the insurer wants the dermatologist to prescribe me some other psoriasis ointment because the stuff he prescribed first costs $450 a tube. I don't know what they put into this stuff. Dragon's blood or something.
