An update

So! An update! I haven't updated for a while-- did you miss me?
I want to start by thanking
Havoc, who dug up
the answer to our JavaScript problems earlier this week. It now works
beautifully. I also want to thank
sil, who told us about a bunch of
interesting JS libraries to look into: I've played with a bunch now, and I think
I like
mochikit the best of all I've
seen, so we might be basing work on that in future. (It does faze me slightly
because its name means "piggy kit" in Welsh, so I'm always finding myself
imagining some sort of set of tools a vet would take to farm emergencies.)
I learned the other day that if you tell an American that something
does
exactly what it says on the tin, they will say "What tin?" It's funny how
hard it is to realise that certain words and phrases don't exist in other
dialects.
I am wondering whether, when people say, "Do you have the Internet at home?", I
should reply, "Yes indeed: MAE West is actually in my bathroom." Probably
not.
Firinel has been away
visiting
Floatyfish,
Onib, and
Misinsatiable, so I've
been alone for 23 hours, for the first time in ages. It's funny, but I don't
really seem to exist much outside community: I didn't really know what to do
with myself. I bought orange chicken, ate about a third of it, worked on some
metacity bugs, and then slept for twelve hours, woke up and had breakfast, slept
for two hours, woke up and read email, slept for two hours, ate another third of
the chicken...
Riordon came
home at around five, so I have someone to share the house with. I'm cooking tea
for her now: we're having fishsticks and cheesy rice.
