All may, none must, some should

Today was a better day than yesterday. In the morning
Riordon and I went to
St Gabriel's. St Gabriel's has two buildings,
one which is
a
little country chapel with a balcony, built in 1801, and
another
which is more of a churchy sort of design built in 1884. There is an
independent church called New Horizons which meets in whichever building St
Gabriel's isn't using, and at the moment we're in the 1801 building and NH is in
the 1884 building. [You can tell they're not Anglicans because they haven't
updated the hymn board since they started and it still says Pentecost. :) ] We
will swap back come the autumn. This is quite a cosy arrangement, but one
unfortunate side-effect is that quite a few St Gabriel's people seem not to like
the 1801 building and just don't come during the summer, so it was quite quiet
today. I'm not sure what can best be done about that.
It was good to see everyone again. Fr Cal preached about the sacraments. You
should all come and hear him sometime, because he uses the most weird things as
examples. Today he said, "God gives us the sacraments as a way of meeting with
us, but not just to build us up as individuals but to help us serve one another.
Remember when Harry Potter broke his arm playing Quidditch? They took him up to
Madame Pomfrey who gave him Skelegrow, and then when his arm grew back he was
able to go back… and play his part in the team once more."
When we got home I tried to test
Hughsient's
laptop video card thing,
but I discovered I don't know enough about the deep BIOS runes to test it, and I
just ended up falling asleep for most of the afternoon with Fin. I'm not sure
whether I'm sleepy and mopey for its own sake, or because of allergies or
something (there's a lot of pollen around). I'm taking meds for it just in case.
Later I woke up and made us Salisbury steaks and beans and mash for tea.
