A very busy weekend

On Friday I had a half day, because we were planning a holiday this weekend. Firinel came up at lunchtime and stayed with me in the office until Floatyfish, Onib and Naltrexone came along. We drove to Chinatown for lunch, then walked down through the city, passing many interesting things including the Shoe (where Xreekinghavocx said hello to us) and finally ended up at Infinite, where Awesome Kevin put another earring in Floatyfish's ear. Then we drove back to Floatyfish and Onib's house in Maryland and played board games.

The next day we were going into Baltimore, but the Baltimore Marathon was making the city impassable, so first we climbed up to Turkey Point lighthouse, and then we went to Newark instead for pizza. Newark is a beautiful little college town. When we got home, Fin had something like a bug bite on zir tummy that had swollen up, and zie had the beginnings of a temperature. Moominmuppet advised us to draw a ring around it to see whether it changed, so we did. Then I had an email saying that the work site was broken, so while the others watched Hedd Wyn, I worked on fixing it.

After the film Fin's temperature was up to 102℉ and the swelling was worse, so we went to the nearest hospital, where they diagnosed an abdominal abcess and gave zir a lot of antibiotics and painkillers. We got home at around three a.m. Floatyfish was especially helpful to Fin with getting zir comfortable and making sure zie had everything zie needed.

The next morning we left Floatyfish at the house and drove Naltrexone to the airport; then Onib dropped us off at home. Fin still had a temperature, and kept asking me to bring duvets; by the time zie was lying under four of them and had a temperature of 103·2℉, we decided to go back into hospital. They told us that zir white blood cell count was rather high, and they were keeping zir overnight.

After that they sent me home, and it's a bit quiet here after all that palaver. I think I will go and have a nice hot bath.
